YESTERDAY we began planning for the Thematic Essay via a tree map. If you were absent, please look over yesterday’s post. For today, please continue filling out the tree map. Check with me if you feel your’s is complete, or if you have a problem. Please be as detailed as possible. Remember to ask yourself these questions:
- Is my information historically correct? If I am not sure, can I generalize?
- Does my information make sense and prove what I want it to prove?
The text in the example tree map above is typed below for those who use Kurzweil.
TREE MAP TEXT
One reason the US entered into a state of war with Mexico in 1846 was that both countries had territorial ambitions in the wild areas seperating the two countries.
Mexico and the United States exist in grographical proximity with each other. They are both located on the same continent.
The war with Mexico enabled the United States to lay claim to large areas of what is now the American Southwest. It also eliminated a potential hurdle to American manifest destiny.
