Tomorrow, most of you will be on the Ecology trip.  For Friday, please complete the questions for Section 2 of the book and be read through page 60.

Also, please be working on the short essay question described below for Monday.

Discussion

Today we discussed the story that has captured society and the ideas behind takers and leavers.  We also discussed the map, which is the question “How did things come to be this way?”  We also related the idea to the Koans from earlier in the week.  Focus on the journey, not the destination.

Short Essay for Monday 

Choose one of the four parts of the study of philosophy and explain how it impacts your daily life.  This is a wide open question, so I am just looking for your ability to think and respond.

There are four basic parts of philosophical study; logic (how we define the principles of reason), ethics (defining how we should live), metaphysics, (defining what exists and what is the nature of existence), and epistemology (defining what can be known).  I will be using these terms in the discussion of the book and you need to know what they are.
