Siddhartha

In Chapter 8, Siddhartha says to himself, “Things are going downhill with you!”  What are the possible meanings of this statement.  Is he talking only of himself?  Please use the comment feature to complete this homework.

Also, please read Chapter 9, The Ferryman.

He did mean a few things by this, one of them is that life sucks right now. Because revolver that term, generally if someone says things are going downhill a bad thing. I suppose though you might be talking about a bit more that just him, he might be saying, or meaning something to the effect that like the river flows downhill into the ocean, so is his path flowing down to reach enlightenment. And I guess that means that he is close, close to reaching his goal, maybe I’m thinking too much, or maybe a spot on with him, and he’s just completely wrong, I don’t know.

I think there a few possible meanings for this quote one could be he is talking about somehting going down hill as in failing or not going as well as expected. another could be that things are failing because of him or something that he did. I think that he could be talking about himself or maybe not because he says you wich would mean he is talking to some one else or maybe just refferig to himself in third person.

“Things are going downhill with you!” various meanings can be taken from this statement. It could be that his situation is going from good to bad. Or from bad to worse. It could be that Govinda’s life is going down hill. The term going down hill meaning things are getting worse. If you want to look at it abstractly you could say that he is referring to Kamala and Kamaswami and things going downhill for them after he has left them.

I think that there is more then one possible meaning for this quote. Maybe he is refferring o the normal usage of the sentince when people say things are going down hill. or maybe he is saying that what ever has happened the person has caused themselves. I think he could be talking to himself because maybe he is just refering to himself in third person and that is why he says you. Or maybe he is talking to somebody else it is really hard for me to say.

Things are going down hill because he is now getting older in an negative way. But as you get older you also get wiser in a positve way.
