GILGAMESH
We began Tablet II today, in which Enkidu comes to the shepherd village with the priestess. He is used to the wild, and has trouble eating the food. Once he gets used to the shepherd’s life, he helps them by killing wolves and lions that eat their flocks. He seems to become one of the community.
Question to consider for homework: Why do you think the story of the wild man who becomes civilized is important to the people of ancient Mesopotamia? There is no right answer, just guesses, so don’t worry about getting the “correct” answer. Focus on what you know about the society. Be ready to share your ideas tomorrow.
A note about taking notes: Don’t get bogged down with every single detail. The art of summary is making big cuts, not small trimmings. You all did a nice job working as a group today.
