Overview:  English in the Eleventh Grade is centered on the following literature:

  • The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury

  • The Crucible by Arthur Miller

  • The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien

  • The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter

  • Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

  • Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card

  • Poetry

  • Gothic Short Stories

Class Expectations:  Students will be expected to complete homework and other assignments on time and conduct themselves in a manner which allows the class to function efficiently and maximizes their own engagement. 

  • Be seated and quiet when the bell rings.

  • Have all materials needed for the class at hand.

  • Participate fully in a manner that allows for the full participation of others.

  • Use the strategies learned in previous years and in other classes.

Grade 11/12 Homework Policy:  Homework is due at the beginning of the class period.  Late homework will not be accepted for credit

Grading:  Final grades for each marking period are based on the following ratio:

  •  Homework/Class work – 40%

  •  Final Papers/Projects – 30%

  •   Participation – 30%

Participation grade will be based on student preparedness, engagement in class activities and attendance.
